Warren and I are experimenting with trying to get a podcast off the ground. We’re going to mine Kickstarter and give you our wisdom on which projects will get funded and which ones will not. Also, there will be humorous anecdotes.
I was asked to provide a bio for the Chico Fleet Feet Coaches web page. Since I’m incapable of anything other than extreme modesty when writing about myself, I commissioned Warren Taylor to write my bio. Here is what he provided:
Pat Berry enjoys forcing other people to do things they would otherwise find abhorrent. This makes him uniquely qualified as a running coach. It’s cold out? It’s raining? You don’t want to do your 5 miles today? There will be Pat, with a vuvuzela and a smile. Your feet hurt? Your ankle is swollen, and you can’t walk, let alone run? There will be Pat, with a bag of ice, an ace bandage, and a cattle prod. You got a call in the middle of the night, and had to rush to your father’s bedside, so that you could spend his last few moments alive comforting him? And now you’ve gotten home, in the pre-dawn light, and have collapsed on your bed in both physical and emotional exhaustion, the idea of running the furthest thing from your mind? There will be Pat, tapping on your bedroom window, with a thumbs-up and a grainy photograph, taken through another bedroom window, of that moment of weakness that wracks your mind daily with the guilt of a true sinner.
